The Unit Commanders Course standardizes the training of squadron and group commanders throughout CAP.  These commanders are the people responsible for administering programs and managing the volunteer members in the field.

The objective of UCC is to build a cadre of well-trained officers who are prepared to lead and manage at the squadron level. Graduates will be able to weave the management responsibilities of command with the leadership skills necessary to build and encourage their team of dedicated members from all walks of life and of all ages to accomplish CAP's mission and squadron objectives.

The new Unit Commanders Course consists of 22 lessons divided into 4 main blocks:
Getting Started
Commander's Toolbox
Compliance
Squadron Leadership

The new UCC is offered in 2 formats:

  • a nationally-sponsored and facilitated 100% online format
  • a group, wing or region-level blended format (blended meaning starting online with a precourse and finishing in-residence over a weekend).
